Jude’s story began with a call for help about a dog in Bilecik.
An older dog had been found unable to stand. He had been taken to a local vet who thought that a bullet had caused the problems with Jude’s back end. He removed the bullet.
As you can see from the image above the bullet was a distance away from the spine & not causing Jude’s problems. Our vets were concerned with an opaque area which is circled here & an abnormality in the pelvic area.
Jude was in a dreadful state. He was unable to stand due to a pelvic problem, had blistering skin from lying in his own pee & poop. His skin was riddled with maggots who were feasting on him, he had a nasty eye infection & he had been shot.
He was discharged from the vet who removed the bullet with no attention given to any of the other problems & he had & not given any pain relief.
The x-rays at our vets clinic revealed several things including a fused spine & a bladder which could not be emptied naturally.
The following steps were taken to help Jude
His coat was shaved & the maggots removed.
His eye infection was treated.
His skin was cleaned & treatment began to heal the damage done by the pee & poop.
His pelvic problems were fixed.
He was given a catheter to empty his bladder.
He began a course of physiotherapy to build back muscle mass & reverse nerve damage.
Jude responded really well to his care plan & is able to shift weight from one leg to the other. He has sensation back where there was none & wags his tail merrily now.
Sadly Jude has irreparable damage to his kidneys due to the length of time he spent on the street in this terrible condition.
He will remain with our vet where he is being kept comfortable, pain free & happy.
