Bidik was born and lived in a garbage dump area where we were providing food support for the local free roaming dogs.
At the time she came to our attention, Bidik had recently given birth to four puppies. We noticed that she appeared to be in significant discomfort whenever the puppies attempted to feed, however the cause was not immediately clear.
Due to concerns about her condition, I recommended that Bidik and her puppies come under our care so she could receive a full veterinary assessment.
On arrival, Bidik underwent examination and was diagnosed with multiple medical issues. She was found to be suffering from a urinary tract infection, mastitis associated with nursing, and a deep abscess caused by a foxtail foreign body migrating through tissue within her body.
Bidik received veterinary treatment for all conditions, including infection management, wound care and ongoing monitoring. Her puppies were gradually weaned and Bidik later underwent spay surgery as part of her long term care plan.
Following recovery, Bidik transferred into the sanctuary project where she continued receiving ongoing care and support.
