Patient Scooter

Scooter came under our care as a street-born dog with a significant injury affecting a foot. Part of the foot was missing at the time he was rescued.

The exact cause of the injury was unknown, however it was suspected that the damage may have occurred either during a fight with other animals or after the limb became trapped in an object or hazardous environment.

In addition to the traumatic injury, Scooter was also diagnosed with distemper following veterinary assessment.

A prolonged effort was made to try and save the damaged foot through ongoing veterinary treatment, wound management and monitoring. However, despite extensive attempts to preserve the limb, the injury could not be successfully resolved and amputation ultimately became the only viable option to protect Scooter’s long-term comfort and quality of life.

Scooter underwent amputation surgery and remained under supportive veterinary care and rehabilitation following the procedure.

Alongside this, he continued receiving treatment and monitoring for distemper due to the potential complications associated with the disease.

Despite his difficult early life and multiple medical challenges, Scooter adapted well following surgery and continued progressing through recovery and rehabilitation under ongoing care.
