Precious, a female dog, was admitted to the clinic after presenting with symptoms initially believed to be a prolapse.
During surgery, our veterinary team discovered a far more serious condition, an advanced and life-threatening intussusception, alongside a significant infection.
Our vets proceeded immediately, carrying out emergency surgery and providing intensive care in an effort to save her. Despite their skill and dedication, the severity of her condition proved too great, and Precious sadly did not survive.
Earlier intervention may have given Precious a better chance. As a stray dog, she was not known to anyone and had no one monitoring her condition as it developed. Cases like hers reflect a wider reality , many dogs only come into view when their situation has already become critical.
