Patch is a street-born dog who came under our care after being found by the side of the road with multiple serious injuries. Veterinary assessment confirmed that he had sustained fractures to three legs.
Due to the complexity and severity of the injuries, Patch required extensive orthopaedic treatment. Multiple fractures were repaired using surgical plates, while one of the legs required stabilisation with an external fixator to support healing.
During examination and treatment, Patch was also found to be suffering from rickets, which further complicated his recovery due to the impact the condition can have on bone strength and development.
Patch remained under long term veterinary supervision while recovering from the fractures and receiving treatment and nutritional support for the rickets. His rehabilitation was challenging due to the number of injuries involved and the extended healing period required.
Despite the severity of his condition, Patch made a remarkable recovery and gradually regained mobility and confidence following treatment.
Once stable, Patch transferred into the sanctuary programme where he continued his recovery and ongoing care.
