Our Pet Food Bank supports families in the Ashbourne area who are experiencing financial hardship by providing food for their cats and dogs.
Pets are part of the family. When household finances become difficult, providing their food can add to an already stressful situation. Our service offers practical support that helps pets remain safely at home with the people who love them.
By helping families before they reach crisis point, we can also reduce the number of animals being surrendered to already stretched rescue organisations.
Where necessary and subject to assessment and available resources, we may also support service users with emergency veterinary care or short-term emergency boarding to protect a vulnerable dog.
Donors
Our Pet Food Bank depends on the kindness of members of the public who donate food or help us purchase the stock we need.
Pet food manufacturers may also occasionally provide donations.
Service Users
Cat and dog owners can apply directly to us when financial hardship makes it difficult to provide enough food for their pets.
Applications are assessed individually, fairly and confidentially.
Food Bank Referrals
Most people using our service are referred to us by a local food bank. This helps us confirm their circumstances and carry out appropriate checks.
A referral is helpful but not essential, as Dog Desk Animal Action can also assess direct applications.

If you need support, please complete the application form below.
Where an application is approved, food will be supplied in whole, unopened packaging. We aim to provide approximately one month’s supply, taking account of the animal’s size, the manufacturer’s feeding guidance and the stock available.
Please answer all required questions. If information is missing, we may be unable to assess your application.

DONATE PET FOOD
