Pause Dog Breeding In Turkey

Pause Breeding, Save Lives: Demand a Moratorium on Dog Breeding in Turkey

Across Turkey, over 4 million dogs are trapped in overcrowded municipal shelters. Behind bars, they face hunger, disease, and despair. Many never make it out alive.

Yet, while millions of dogs suffer in these inhumane conditions, dog breeding continues. New puppies are brought into the world every day, while shelter dogs are left to die without ever knowing love or safety.

This is a crisis of compassion—and it requires urgent action.

Why This Matters

  • 🐾 4 million dogs currently suffer in shelters across Turkey.
  • 🐾 Many shelters are overcrowded, underfunded, and unsafe.
  • 🐾 Every puppy bred means one shelter dog loses a chance at adoption.

This cycle of suffering will continue unless we act now.

What We’re Asking For

We are calling on the Turkish government and local authorities to:

  1. Implement an immediate moratorium on dog breeding until shelter populations are drastically reduced.
  2. Invest in spay/neuter programs to prevent further suffering.
  3. Support adoption campaigns and improve shelter conditions for existing dogs.

This is not about punishing breeders—it is about saving lives.

They Can’t Speak, But You Can

Every dog behind a shelter wall is waiting for hope. Waiting for a chance. Waiting for someone to care.
