Patient Ozzy

Ozzy arrived under our care in an extremely serious condition with burn injuries covering approximately 40% of her body.

Prior to transfer, she had spent several days under the care of another veterinary clinic. However, when Ozzy arrived with us, she remained critically unwell. She was suffering from infection, severe pain and extensive open wounds associated with the burns.

On examination, it became clear that significant areas of damaged skin and tissue had not been properly cleaned or managed. Despite the seriousness of her condition, she had previously been discharged with only topical cream prescribed for ongoing care.

At the time of admission into our programme, Ozzy’s condition was considered extremely concerning and there were serious doubts about whether she would survive.

Ozzy underwent intensive veterinary treatment and supportive care focused on infection management, wound treatment, pain relief, hydration, nutritional support and ongoing monitoring of the burn injuries as healing progressed.

Her recovery was lengthy and required continual assessment due to the extent of the burns and the risk of complications associated with infection and tissue damage.

Despite the severity of her injuries and the uncertainty surrounding her prognosis, Ozzy survived and gradually recovered under ongoing veterinary care.
